Olive Spraying

The flowering and fruiting of Olive trees can be controlled effectively by spraying them from January through March with Maintain C F 125.  This chemical is a growth retardant that will prevent the tree from blossoming and bearing fruit.  The olive fruit is high in oil content and has a staining pigment.  As the fruit ripens and drops to the ground it can create a horrible mess.  When fruit falls over walkways it can be tracked indoors and ruin carpet and other surfaces.  Also, many people are highly allergic to the pollen that these trees produce each spring.  The fruit that drops to the ground can also be considered a “safety hazard”, especially if someone slips and falls on the pavement.  Some communities allow “pickers” to climb into the trees to harvest the olives.  This can also be a liability issue to many Homeowners Associations especially if someone were to fall out of the tree and hurt themselves.  Who would be at fault?

To curtail these problems, we offer Arizona olive tree spraying with a growth regulator which reduces both pollen and fruit production.  The window for this spraying starts in January into March.  The earlier you spray the better the control will be, the later you spray the less control you have.  Our recommendation is to spray the olives in mid February.

Why Use AAA Landscape
  • We use “Maintain”, the most effective chemical available to control olive fruit.
  • In order to apply growth regulators, Arizona law requires Arizona olive tree spraying applicators be tested and licensed by The Office of Pest Management. All of our applicators are licensed, highly trained, and have experience spraying thousands of trees.
  • Maintain, the growth regulator we use, dramatically reduces pollen when sprayed January to mid-February.
  • Our treatment requires only one application annually, reducing resident’s inconvenience and exposure.
  • We utilize the most efficient spray equipment and techniques in the valley. Our efficiency and knowledge translates into lower prices for you. Put our expertise to work to insure you receive the best value.
